The Secret Lagoon – The Secret Lagoon
The secret lagoon is a hot geothermal spring located in Fluðir. It is one of the oldest hot springs in Iceland and as the Icelandic name Gamla Laugin translates: the old swimming pool. Icelanders have been visiting this place for decades to spend time relaxing in warm water with friends and family. The hot and steaming springs and small geysers which can be found near the pool make this place really special.

Geysir (Geyser)
Geysir, often referred to as the Great Geysir, is a geyser located in the geothermal region called Haukadalur in the western part of Iceland. This is the first geyser described in literature and the first known to modern Europeans. If you were wondering, the word “Geyser” comes originally from the Icelandic name “Geysir”. It is believed that this Geysir has been active for about 10,000 years. Although the Big Geysir is currently dormant, the smaller geysir called Strokkur erupts boiling hot water every few minutes up to a height of 35 meters.

Gullfoss waterfall
The Gullfoss, also known as the “Golden Waterfall”, is a grand waterfall in western Iceland and located in the upper part of the Hvítá River. Gullfoss is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. The water falls cascade in two stages to an amazing 3 km gap, which is below the waterfall in the canyon. Gullfoss can be visited all year round. The waterfall looks spectacular in winter and in summertime.

Thingvellir National Park (Þingvellir)
Thingvellir National Park is an area of great cultural, natural and geological significance. The two main attractions which encourage you to visit this place: 1. The fact that Þingvellir is the site of the first and longest running parliament in the world called “Althingi”. 2. Þingvellir is also the place where the tectonic plates of America and Eurasia meet. The plates are spaced at about 2 cm per year. The park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004. After visiting all the beautiful places mentioned above, you will return to Reykjavik.
